About
What the Hell is this blog supposed to be about then?
Well, originally I created TC Design in hopes that I would become a famous movie critic or perhaps a Mac savant. Unfortunately, high school sucked away any creative marrow left in my bones. By the time I got home, my news articles suffered the slings and arrows of Calculus and the dreaded History courses. Bleh… It’s now just my online portfolio. So if you’re interested in seeing some of my work, feel free to visit.
Why Burnout Boy?
I think many people are rather “burnt-out” after finally finishing college and heading into the real world. Even if you’re in a job that you love, it can be exhausting. Burnout Boy is not meant to be presented in a negative context. It’s more of a way of empowering myself and others to own their burntoutedness… OK, so that’s not a word, but you get the point.
What’s with the superhero theme?
I always wanted to be one as a kid. I thought if I just unlocked my telepathic thoughts, I would discover my true power. You know, there’d be that balloon at the top of the room that I could have sworn moved according to my electrical brain waves. Or after school in the fall, a tornado of dry, yellow and orange leaves would swirl around me only confirming my awesome powers over the elements. Needless to say, nothing ever really happened, but it was always nice to pretend. My imagination has always ushered me in the right direction, so if I can’t be a superhero now; I’m just going to design myself into one. Problem solved.
Why didn’t you keep up with your articles in high school or college?
High school was a creativity leech for me. So I thought, screw it! I’ll wait until college when I’ll have some real time to develop my new writing capabilities. I thought, watch out Internet pundits, here I come. I made the voyage to the university with a bright smile on my face knowing that everything would be different this time, and I would be able to do whatever I wanted. Then I went to my first day of classes and made the inevitable sobbing phone call to the folks that went something like, “I can’t do this! This is way too much pressure. I’ve only had 5 classes today that required me to have essays handed in by tomorrow and… and…” Well, you get the idea. Fast forward 4 years, and I have a Mass Communications degree and one year of freelance graphic design under my belt.
So, what now?
I’ve decided to resurrect my blog with a new planned mindset: I’m going to be myself, love what I do, and not limit my articles to one particular subject. Expect movie reviews, Mac news, and just about everything else under that bright yellow orb in the sky. I’m also an avid social media user, so anticipate links to other stories that might spark your interest.
And what would a blog be without some free stuff? I’m a designer, so expect some freebies. And no, they won’t say, “just for personal use.” That’s such a bunch of crock in my opinion. If your going to give someone free artwork, you should let them actually use it on their projects. Otherwise, what is the fricken’ point? Now, that doesn’t mean that you can re-post it wherever you want, or sell it to Joe Shmo for hundreds of dollars. That’s a whole different snake pit. And believe you me, if I catch you doing it, I will sue your ass into the ground and hunt down your first-born. Don’t mess with the BurnoutBoy.
On that happy note, I hope you enjoy my blog. Feel free to contact me or post a comment. I’m open to suggestions (and freelance jobs *wink* *wink*), so don’t pussyfoot around to contact me.
I’m hoping to make Burnout Boy the new buzzword, and hopefully, I can regain that long lost telekinesis or teleportation power for which I’ve desperately been searching. Until then, I’ll just have to use my imagination.
